The Ducatista Tiny Home | Te Anau

This 2 bedroom tiny home set in a quiet country setting in the beautiful South Island township of Te Anau offers guests a chance to get close not only to nature but to all things Ducati.  Kev, more commonly known as Beaker was inspired during the Covid Lockdowns to fit out his cosy home utilising the many bits and bobs left over from his specialist work on Ducati’s.

You’ll find the home warm in winter and cool in summer, providing the perfect retreat for motorcyclists on an adventure, or those of you Ducatista’s who require some fine tuning of your bike, you can book this space for a couple of days while Beaker works his magic, while you can enjoy one of the many walking tracks nearby.  At the end of your day, Beaker (on request) will ensure the large wood-fired tub (complete with an outdoor TV for watching movies or racing) is ready and waiting for you to spend the evening relaxing. (additional charges apply).

Like all our MCANZ hosts, safety is a priority for them, so they provide secure bike parking facilities and even have a mechanical workshop on site.  In case your bike needs repairs or new tires, Beaker can take care of it for you.  With local restaurants offering delivery services, this eliminates the need to put your riding gear back on to go out for dinner.

MEET YOUR HOSTS

Kev (Beaker) & Maria Beaumont

My Nickname “Beaker” came from 40 years ago an ex brother-in-law gave it to me as I had red hair and still have a big nose so the muppet character became my name and is still used for racing and day to day by some friends and clients.

I raced enduros for many years on Husky’s and later bought Tim Gibbes’s Husky business which saw me pushing the brand and even competing at the A4DE in 1991 at Bright Victoria.  Coming home with CRC and Amsoil on board, I went karting for a couple of years and then laid off all motorsports altogether.

As a Milford Track Guide my summers were full with no spare time plus guiding was seasonal employment but, I came full circle with road bikes coming back into my life which lead to racing which I’ve been back doing since 2000.  I should have gone track racing sooner as my times keep improving with age; I guess like all good track riders, the dirt background is a key component to fast lap times.

Te Anau being 1hr 50 minutes from the nearest big town makes our minimum 2 night stay logical, so that a trip to Milford is planned after the day you arrive, so you can take ample time to really immerse yourself in the magical Milford Road without worrying about time at the end of the day to get to your next destination.  As locals, we can suggest great rides be it Adventure or road scenic, or even a ride and walk within Fiordland; once you see our backdoor you’ll understand why we love it.
